Three days of folk music and more than 200 dance displays across Swanage, most of it free, opening with The Longest Johns.
Swanage Folk Festival takes over the town's streets and seafront for a weekend, with more than 50 bands and over 200 dance performances from visiting sides; the festival bills itself as the biggest UK festival of dance sides. Much of it is free: dance displays in the streets, children's entertainment, a craft fair, music sessions, ceilidhs and workshops.
The ticketed main-stage concerts open on Friday 11 September from 7pm to 10.30pm with The Longest Johns and Nick Parker among the acts, and the Gerry Colvin Band and Merry Hell play over the weekend.
The festival is run by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, and any surplus goes to local charities.
