Cookie policy
Nothing goes on your device for analytics until you accept the banner. We do count visits either way, using something that stores nothing at all. This page lists exactly what gets stored if you accept, what does not, and what happens if you decline.

What runs either way
Vercel Web Analytics
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, the analytics built into our hosting. It is not behind the banner, because it does not put anything on your device: no cookies, and nothing written to your browser’s storage. That is why there is nothing to consent to under the cookie rules, which are about storing and reading things on your device.
It counts you using a one-way hash worked out from the request itself, which Vercel discards after 24 hours. Your IP address is not stored, and the count cannot be turned back into you or followed from one website to another. What it records is the page, where the visit came from, an approximate location, and the kind of device and browser.
We use it because the banner would otherwise leave us guessing. Google Analytics only ever sees people who accept, which tells us nothing about everyone who does not.
If you decline
Nothing is stored except your decision itself, so we do not ask again on every page. That is kept in your browser’s local storage under wl-consent, it never leaves your device, and it tells us nothing about you.
Google Analytics never starts. The cookieless visit count above still runs, because it stores nothing on your device.
Everything on the site keeps working. Listings, search, the maps, the newsletter signup and the submission forms are all unaffected.
If you accept
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which listings people find useful. It runs in Google Consent Mode with storage denied by default, which means that before you accept it can only send an anonymous, cookieless signal. After you accept it sets these cookies:

The maps
Event, venue and town pages show a map from OpenStreetMap. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, so it appears whether or not you accept. To draw the map your browser fetches it from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which see your IP address in the same way any website does.
Changing your mind
Clear this site’s data in your browser (usually under Settings, then Privacy, then site data) and the banner will appear again on your next visit, letting you choose differently. You can also block or delete cookies entirely in your browser settings.
What we do not do
- No advertising cookies, and no ad networks.
- No selling or sharing of your data with data brokers.
- No tracking across other websites.
- No storing your IP address for analytics.
- No pre-ticked boxes, and no cookie wall.
