A day long carnival on Shaftesbury High Street with a children's afternoon procession, a band parade and a grand illuminated evening procession.
Shaftesbury Carnival is an annual event that has brought colour and light to the High Street for over 145 years. The High Street is closed for the day, with an afternoon procession in which more than 250 children dress up and walk a shorter route, followed by a band parade and then the grand illuminated evening procession with more than 50 entries ranging from walkers to large floats. The event is run entirely by volunteers on the Shaftesbury Carnival committee and raises funds for local charities.
