Wiltshire's oldest illuminated carnival, running since 1898: lit floats through Pewsey on a Saturday night in its 128th year.

Pewsey's carnival has been going since 1898, which makes it the oldest illuminated carnival in Wiltshire. This is its 128th year. After dark, floats lit with thousands of bulbs leave the Carnival Field and process along the High Street, with walking entries and collectors alongside.

The procession sets off at 7.30pm. Roads in the village are closed from 6pm to 11pm, so arrive early; the carnival car parks charge £5. Bring loose change for the collectors, who raise money for local good causes.

It closes a week of carnival events in the village, including the Wheelbeero wheelbarrow parade on the Thursday.

Listing via Pewsey and District Feast and Carnival. Always check times and prices with the organiser before travelling.
