A historic West Devon carnival with tar barrels, a torchlit procession and a parade of tractor pulled floats through Hatherleigh.
Hatherleigh Carnival has run since 1903 and is held on the second Saturday in November. Floats gather in the Market Place from 6pm, with a torchlit procession joining in Market Street from around 7.30pm, alongside blazing tar barrels, marching bands and walking entrants. It is organised by the Hatherleigh Carnival committee, a volunteer group that runs the event to raise funds to keep the carnival going, including through activities such as its numbered ball release fundraiser in the town.
Listing via Carnival committee's own website. Always check times and prices with the organiser before travelling.
