North Devon's carnival: a Carnival Village from 2pm, an evening parade through the town centre at 6pm, and a fireworks finale.
Barnstaple Carnival has been running since 1931. The day starts at 2pm, when the Carnival Village opens on the Strand and the Square with stalls and things to do before the procession.
The parade leaves the Square at 6pm and winds through the town centre along Belle Meadow Road, Queen Street and Boutport Street, where the entries are judged outside the Queen's Theatre, then through Mermaid Walk and North Walk to finish by the old Barnstaple Town Station.
From 6.30pm there is entertainment on the Strand, followed by the presentation of the carnival cups and a fireworks finale to close the night. Expect road closures around the route through the afternoon and evening.
Listing via Midweek Herald. Always check times and prices with the organiser before travelling.
