Free hourly tours of the 19th-century mansion on the Glastonbury Abbey estate, with a costumed Victorian carpenter at work.
Abbey House is a 19th-century mansion on the Glastonbury Abbey estate, and for Heritage Open Days it opens for free guided tours. You hear about the people who have lived there, find some of its hidden features and learn what the house is used for now. There is an exhibition, a costumed Victorian carpenter at work, and refreshments with a view of the abbey ruins.
Tours of about 45 minutes leave on the hour from 10am, with the last at 4pm. Entry is timed, so booking ahead is recommended, though walk-ups are welcome if there is space. The house is accessible, with disabled parking on site; the nearest public car park is on Silver Street.
Listing via Glastonbury.uk. Always check times and prices with the organiser before travelling.
